How to Use Your Soapstone Grilling Stone

For Outdoor Grills


Preheating the Stone:
Place the soapstone grilling stone on the grill grate before turning on the heat. Gradually raise the grill temperature to your desired cooking level, allowing the stone to preheat for 20–30 minutes. This gradual warming helps prevent thermal shock and promotes even cooking.


Cooking on the Stone:
Once fully heated, place your food—meats, vegetables, pizzas, or other items—directly onto the stone’s surface. The stone will retain and distribute heat evenly for consistent cooking results. Use metal, wood, or silicone utensils, but avoid banging to prevent chipping.


Cleaning and Storage:
Allow the stone to cool completely before cleaning. Between uses, scrape off food residue with a spatula or grill brush. You may clean the stone with warm water and mild soap if desired. Rinse well and dry thoroughly before storing. Avoid immersing a hot stone in cold water to prevent thermal shock.

For Conventional Indoor Oven Use

Preheating the Stone:
Place the soapstone grilling stone on the middle rack of your oven. Preheat the oven with the stone inside for about 30 minutes to reach the desired temperature.

Cooking on the Stone:
Using an oven mitt, carefully place your food on the heated stone. Bake, roast, or grill as preferred. The stone’s even heat retention provides consistent cooking and crispy crusts, perfect even for simply reheating breads and pizzas. 

Cleaning and Storage:
Follow the same cooling and cleaning guidance as for grill use scraping between uses, wash with mild soap and warm water as needed, rinse, and dry thoroughly.
